Dr. Dmitriy Govorun

Dr. Dmitriy Govorun is a Co-editor in Chief of the journal “Corporate Board: role, duties and composition”. Dmitriy started his academic career in 2009 when he had joined a PhD program at the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine (Ukraine). However, his research interests formed the year before when he had started to work with Prof. Alex Kostyuk on projects in the field of corporate governance.
Since International Center for Banking and Corporate Governance was established (2010) Dmitriy has become an active member of the Center and his further academic career became deeper associated with the field of corporate governance. Caring about improving his professional skills he attended open lectures on finance and corporate governance, presented by professors from various countries (Germany, Italy, The USA, The UK and Ukraine).
His academic achievements include the contribution in writing books, papers, researching in corporate governance, participation in conferences. He contributed to writing several books on corporate governance issues (in English): a book titled “Anti-Crisis paradigms of Corporate Governance” (2010); “EuroAsian Perspectives of the banking systems development” (2011). Several papers in English were published together with some other researchers in refereed journals. These papers are in the field of corporate governance: regulation, remuneration, performance, reporting, compliance etc.
Dmitriy took active part in organizing conferences, workshops and lecture series with the participation of publishing house “Virtus Interpress” and International Center for Banking and Corporate Governance (since 2010): Workshop “Managerial discretion in transition economies” (2013, Sumy, Ukraine), VIII International Conference “International Competition in Banking: Theory and Practice” (2013, Sumy, Ukraine), Workshop on “Corporate Governance in Financial Institutions: Reporting Issues”, (2012, Second University of Naples, Faculty of Economics, Italy), International conference “Corporate Governance and Regulation: Outlining New Horizons for Theory and Practice” (2012, Pisa, Italy), VII International Conference "International competition in banking: theory and practice" (2012, Sumy, Ukraine); International Students’ Conference “Financial Markets and Institutions: Globalization during the Crisis” (2011, Sumy, Ukraine); VI International Conference "International competition in banking: theory and practice" (2011, Sumy, Ukraine); International workshops on corporate governance (2011, Sumy, Ukraine); Annual International Online Conference on Corporate Governance in Banks (2010).
His professional experience is also expanded through reading open lectures on corporate governance related topics for students in Ukraine (2011), Sweden (2012), Italy (2012, 2013). Academic career of Dmitriy Govorun has been followed with the lectureship at the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine (since 2011). Little earlier he assisted in reading a course titled “Corporate Governance” (2010, Ukraine). He defended his PhD dissertation in corporate governance in banking in 2013. As co-editor, he contributed to the book “The Theory and Practice of Directors’ Remuneration: New Challenges and Opportunities, New Challenges and Opportunities” in 2016.
Starting with 2014 he is also working in TCM Group Ukraine, implementing on practice his knowledge and research experience in corporate governance and finance.
As a member of Virtus Global Center for Corporate Governance, Dr. Govorun is a co-editor in chief of the Corporate Board journal, bringing his professional expertise to the benefit of the journal’s network.
