Portico - digital preservation services

One of the important characteristics of the modern academic publisher is a trustworthy preservation policy of the digital content that is published in the academic journals. Despite reliable policies of the publishing house “Virtus Interpress” devoted to this issue we’ve also decided to enhance the process even more and use services of Portico which is among the largest community-supported digital archives in the world. Working with libraries and publishers, Portico preserves e-journals, e-books, and other electronic scholarly content to ensure researchers and students will have access to it in the future.

Publishers can select Portico as a perpetual access—or post-cancellation access—mechanism for their e-journals and e-books. The majority of the titles in the Portico archive are available for access if needed. Digital preservation is an important, yet complex undertaking. Its importance is increasing as libraries continue to make the print to digital transition. Hundreds of publishers and societies entrust their content to Portico because they value Portico’s robust process of deep analysis and pre-emptive content migration. These activities ensure the best possible long-term preservation (and delivery, if necessary) of their content.

This step allows us to ensure access to the content published in our journals in the case of any event which may occur with the publishing house.

We will continue implementing the best publishing practices in our activity in order to establish most reliable cooperation with our stakeholders.
