Competence Center of Corporate Governance at the Institute of Accounting, Control and Auditing at the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland
The main emphasis of Center’s work is on Corporate Governance including the research areas Board Governance and Organizational Control.
Center’s teaching and research activities are both interdisciplinary and international in step with actual Swiss board practice. Thereby, center focuses on the research of concrete actions of the board of directors as a company’s highest controlling body. In particular, members of the center analyze the possibilities in the optimization of operating processes of the audit committee. Thereby, center concentrates on the collaboration between the board of directors and other relevant functions, such as the internal and external auditing, risk management and compliance in view of their contribution to an effective governance system.
Our contact person at the center is Prof. Dr. Michèle F. Sutter-Rüdisser
Michèle F. Sutter-Rüdisser is a Vice Director at the Institute of Accounting, Control and Auditing at the University of St. Gallen. She is also a Visiting Professor at the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi’s School of Management in Milano, Italy and a member of the board of the Spital Thurgau AG.
Before, she was a Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Accounting and Control at the University of Zürich and a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Business Strategy and Policy at Tsinghua University’s School of Economics and Management in Beijing, P.R. China. She has work experience in the fields of assurance and advisory business services with Ernst & Young Ltd., in banking and finance, as well as in the hotel industry.
She holds a Ph.D. in Multicultural Management, summa cum laude, and a M.A. in Risk Management and Financial Services from the University of St. Gallen. Her major research interests are in the area of Corporate Governance, Board Governance, and Organizational Control.
